Vintage Wheels - Record Hubs & GP4 rims

So what should I ask for a pair of vintage wheels, Record Hubs, GP4 rims, stainless spokes, no tires, 6 speed freewheel (didn't look at make)? The bearings are smooth, the wheels still perfectly true. While the buyer will probably bring them to his pro circuit mechanic, I don't actually think they need it, but it is old grease. They need to be cleaned, and the old glue needs to be removed.

I'm the original owner of these, and I had them built around 1982-3 I think.

Oh, and one more thing, the buyer is my bosses' boss.

Low demand for tubulars hurts the value on these. Nice examples including skewers can be picked up in the $100-$120 range.

+1 Low demand for tubulars, and low demand for those rims in particular. GP4s were very nice and rock solid but rather heavy for a tubular at around 410g.

The wheelset is basically worth whatever the hubset is worth plus a little extra. I have no idea what Record hubs go for.

Yea, when I checked ebay I saw that you could get a set for very little, actually too little to really want to part with them. I just remember that riding on them felt better than riding on clinchers from that era, which were heavier still.

About a year and a half ago I picked up a set with LF record hubs for $75. The coop near me has a number of them for $100 a pair with various rims, but tubulars.

You may want to check the freewheel. Some of those are worth $25 and up.

You should be able to get more for them if you un-laced them and sold the parts seperately. Tubular wheelsets sell for ridiculously low prices on ebay (great for us who like tubies).

Nice wheels but there is a low demand for tubulars. The hubs ,scewers and freehweel likely a Regina would are worth more individually than the wheelset figure $120-140 while the whole wheels are only worth about $100 in most markets.

We agreed to $150 as this was a good set. I wouldn't hesitate to ride them as is if they had tires on them.
