~20 year old Gary Fisher Tassajara
I don't really have any intention of selling this bike, per se, but I found it recently on craigslist, took it for a short test ride and bought it for $90. I think I got a good deal since everything seems to be in decent shape (had to tighten a few spokes and adjust the brakes a bit). Just curious what exact year it is (the gentleman I bought it from said he thinks it's a 1993, but he wasn't sure), and if I got taken, or if it's a good bike for the money.
Thanks for any info! Here are some pictures. Please excuse the dirt on the bike, haven't had a chance to clean it yet, this is the condition in which the bike was purchased.

Nice find, good price. I think that's a 96-97. You can check the catalogs online, the Vintage Trek site has all the Trek catalogs plus now they have a lot for Gary Fisher, Klein, and Lemond.

Thank you for the info! I did look up that number BS 6102:1 and it came up with a 1992 bicycle safety regulation thing. Any bearing on what year bike it could be, or just that it's at least a MY 1992?

I think Fastjake got it right - 96-97. The Gary Fisher on the downtube is the later font. It was more of a block style in the early 90s.

Looks like Trek's ice red color. Bikepedia says 1997.

Thanks for your help, guys! So the bike is a few years newer than I thought. I really do like the matte red paint on it, it's very pretty yet doesn't attract much attention (I was thinking of using this as my 'around town' bike, and didn't want anything flashy that would draw thieves toward it).

If you think names like Specialized, Trek, or Gary Fisher don't attract attention because of flat paint, yer smokin something other than cigarettes!
At least use a medium duty cable lock during the day.

Fair point! I do have a mini u-lock which should work quite well with the relatively small diameter tubing on the frame, so I'm good in that department.

Bikepedia shows a msrp of $450 with Alivio I thin considering ti needs a new rear tire may $75-100. Might make a nice drop conversion.
