Given a 2002 Jamis "Comet", 7005 al., frame w/carbon forks and built it up.
What would I have to spend to get something comparable in a new bike. Not looking to sell it.

The frame was race one season in 2002

Given the frame with Cane Creek head set, the back Mavic Ksyrium elite wheel and Thompson seat post.
Bought used Mavic Ksyrium elite front wheel in excellent shape off ebay for $75.
Bought new the complete Campy Centaur carbon red group set, Ritchey WCS 4-Axis Stem (change stems since this photo), FSA compact handle bars, Look single carbon pedals, Selle Italia max SLR Gel seat and conti 4000 tires.

When I shot this the seat was not adjusted nor pedals installed.

The campy mech. that put it together for me said it was one of the smoothest bikes he's ridden. It came in at 17.75lbs

This is the Classic and Vintage forum - we can only tell you how to get a bike better than this, not equal. Preferably something Italian with a lugged steel frame.

Seriously, post your question in the road forum, they can help you.
