help identifying a Pinarello
Hey there,
I have searched for quite some time on this forum as well as many other sources (including the bulgier catalogs) and cant seem to identify this Pinarello. From the limited amount of pictures I have it seems to be a track bike since I cant see any taps for shifters or eyelets for cables, however one of the pictures shows 'treviso' on the top tube. additionally it seems to have an early 80's headtube decal. Other stuff: seems to have victory strada rims, fully chromed chainstays. Any ideas?

Is it possible to get a close up of the rear dropouts and drivetrain. It looks like the bike may have been Road bike that was modified to FG. Also it looks like it may have had an exceptionally nice repaint. Both of these could be what is making the bike hard to id.

So this is the best I could get, sorry I don't have direct access to the bike! Is there a good resource for serial numbers of Pinarello's?

The pic helps I'm 99% sure based on this bike is indeed a Triveso Road Race bike that has had the dropouts modifiied replaced and converted to a FG. I would not consider this a track bike but very nice FG conversion.

The clearances and fork rake look way to small for it to have ever been a road bike, I am thinking its a designed for track bike. Likely Pinarello.

I agree that rear drop out looks odd, but the geometry look track. Maybe its not a pinarello at all? I know what you are saying, bit of a mystery to me. Also, if that were a welded in drop out the chrome on the chainstay would be trashed.
Also look at the fork crown, no brake hole drilled, its a track fork.

Lugs and seatstay caps look right. Maybe someone faked those but that's a lot of work.
Looks like a repaint to me.
I don't think that big of a Treviso ever appeared on a Pinarello in those days. That location is usually where model name appears but the Treviso was a road bike. Most Pinarellos back then had Treviso on the seat tube also, but much smaller and vertical layout.

Are there remnants of blue paint on that fork end?
HTA looks too steep for road bike. But there is much distortion so hard telling.

The rear drop does look a bit odd but the workmanship appears to be Pinarello. Also, the forks are round, suggesting them to be for track use. There appears to be no hole in the rear brake bridge, once again suggesting track configuration. Just an old guy's opinion on all counts, though.

The Amatore fork was drilled for a brake, according to the 1985 catalog. here's an early 80's fork:
And here's an '86 model Amatore:

The lug cutouts are Pinarello. Definitely a repaint. Dropouts are Pinarello.
Mid-80's Amatore. repainted. None of the components look original. go ride.
