Value of Bianchi Rekord 745, 1974
This is a bike I'm thinking of buying. Here is the description/specs provided by the seller:
"Classic 1974 Bianchi in good/very good original condition equipped with original Campagnolo Valentino Extra derailleurs and downtube shifters, Ofmega headset, bottom bracket, and crankset (52/42/170). The balance of the components are mostly period correct, Regina 5-speed freewheel & chain (both NOS), Universal brakeset (NOS), ITM seatpost, 3TTT Bianchi stem, & Lyotard pedals. The bars are Scott bullhorns fron the 80's. The wheels are Mavic MA-40's with Specialized hubs by the Wheelsmiths also from the 80's."
FYI, I'm interested in this bike because I like the style and I was always jealous of a lifelong friend who's dad collected vintage Bianchi's from yard sales, 2nd hand shops etc., some of which we would ride around when I was at his house.

It is a pretty bike but I think a mid level/ beginner specimen. can you get the better pics? It isn't original if most of the parts are period correct, and that bar/brake lever set up looks funky and hard to handle.

I'm actually looking for a less expensive option so the bike being "original" is less important than it having decent quality parts and being usable. I'm going to check it out at the used shop where it's located and I will take more pictures, which I can post. I'll take it for a test ride and check out the brake set-up which does look a bit strange. Though what you said did help me to confirm my feeling that the price he's asking for is too high...

in its original configuration the machine is a one up from the bottom sort of model.
keep that in mind as to valuation and desirability.

Just curious, what frame/tubing does the Rekord 745 have?

Hello all. I found a frame in good shape but with a poor paint job (2 layers of 2 different colors were successively applied through time...), which seems to be a Bianchi Rekord 745. The seller asks 370 USD for it. Given the model and the poor paint job, it sounds a bit expensive to me. I was thus wondering the current value of such frame please? Around 200 dollars? Thanks a lot for your insight!

With good original paint I would put the frame set at $150 or so as presented with bad paint $100 or so. As for the whole bike as is needing bars brake levers chain, cables , likely some other parts and full servicing I wouldn't go over $200. On a bike like this you could end up sending another $200 to get it i in good riding shape properly set up with drop bars and some minor upgrades needed to make it a good rider.
