Trek 614
Price seems slightly high but pretty close. I'm mainly wondering if anyone can tell me (1) if this is for sure a 614 and (2) whether this model was Trek's low trail sport tourer. Based on the info at vintage-trek.com, the paint, decals, and components seem right for the 1982 614, but I'm not an expert. I'd like to give low trail and possibly 650b a try.

Plug your 650B numbers into the calc and see where it takes you.

I think the price is high as well but vintage Treks tend to command a premium. In any case, I find this very useful when thinking of doing a 650b conversion,

For what it's worth, the 614 has trail in the 40s according to the calculator, so this is what I'm looking for if this bike is indeed a 614.

Look closely at the '82 catalog. Doesn't match the 614 depicted. Downtube shifters are different. Find out what component group is on it. A 613 seems to have similar shifters. You could probably talk him down some.

Don't know if it is of interest, but check this one out. Already comes with 650B from the factory. I think a forum member owns this and he has listed it several times. Great bike but most don't understand it.

613 and 614 are the same frame just different "options".

Ok. I used to have an 81. Vx components and a Avocet Condor seat. That seat being a "Touring" model could be 614. Try Vintagetrek.com.

Then probably the only definitive answer would be serial #. I realize it was a classified. Just saying that be the only answer.

Should be easy to tell. 613 is a double and the 614 is a triple. I don't see a small chainring in the picture so I would say that is a 613.
I have an 81, and it is a very nice riding bike. If the one in the ad really is "ready to ride" I would pay something in the $300-350 range. I got my 81 613 for "free" from my brother-in-law, but spent several hundred dollars getting it ready to ride.

Agreed, good deal. At first I was put off by the aesthetics. Wheels just look too darned small. But the more I look, the better it appears. This seller has tried moving it several times. It might have a better chance on the bay.
