My pair of Univega Nuovo Sports

In 1976-77 my wife and I bought two Univega Nuovo Sport bikes new. They are a 23" SN:H275621 and a 21" SN:H306799. They are both kind of a pumpkin orange color. Both bikes are in very good shape and basically original except maybe for the seats. The 23" has been for rides the most. They have been mostly hanging from the ceiling in our garage for 35+ years. They have been for rides off and on sparingly over the years. It's really a waste to just store them and I would like some advice on what to do with them. I realize they are thought of as classics and sought after by some collectors. Any ideas about their value etc.?

you need to post pictures for a more accurate appraisal.

i would guess anywhere from $40-200 per bike depending on condition and your location. they will need to be regreased/rehabbed after sitting all these years so that plays a role in value too.

they're descent quality vintage bikes, but not desireable from a collectable standpoint.

I agree with zazanzach that pics are need to see the condition and estimate value. I also agree that these are likely not collector bikes, unless there is someone out we don't know about who is trying to collect one of every Univega built. I think however the price estimate is very generous. For a late '70s bike which is likely a lowend High Tensil steel frame and steel wheels I would be surprised if you got over $100 each.

Despite being stored and hardly ridden the pair likely need a good amount a cleaning and overhaul of the bearings. The originality factor aside the 30+ year old tires and brake pads likely need to be replaced too.

Is there a reason this is posted twice?

BTW I just learned something interesting via Wikipedia. According to the article on Ben Lawee he once imported Bianchis but even better he was born in Baghdad and immigrated via a freighter as a teen. Quite the 'young go getter' as Monty Burns would say.
