1980s Peugeot Super Vitus

Picked this bad boy up for 14.99 at good will. Seems to be all original with original paint.

I am thinking I can resell for about 200.00

Lets see. What do you all think the value is worth

Nowhere near enough information nor good enough pictures to value. Since its a link to your ad, I'd say what people here think is immaterial, you've priced it, the market will tell you if the price is good or bad.

Do you think 14.99 was a decent price? I have found quite a few bikes at goodwill for cheap at resold for about 150.00 -250.00

$15 for a Peugeot is a good price, can't really value it with just a link to a ***king awful CL ad. That ad almost qualifies for the wack world thread.

Your only picture is of the bike laying down on its drive-side??? Besides the fact that you should never lay a bike down like this, don't include that picture in your ad! Get some decent pictures and we'll help you with a valuation.

Sorry for being harsh but that's a truly awful ad.

Overall, your price is probably in the ball park. But without DECENT PICTURES we can't tell for sure and your ad is nearly useless. With bicycles a picture really is worth 1000 words, maybe more.

I notice you updated your ad with a different picture. The bike isn't laying down anymore but the photo quality is just as bad. You have to put at least a little effort in to get results. Put at least 6-8 good quality pictures in your ad. Take them with a real camera, not a 10 year old flip phone. Take them from the drive-side of the bike: the side with the gears. Take detail photos of things like the Super Vitus sticker, the brakes, the rims, etc.

Books are a lot simpler, I think. You can post the title, author, and a lousy picture and any buyer can have all the necessary information needed to make a purchase.

Bikes on the other hand have a lot of parts and the condition of everything matters a lot. Your assertion that the bike is "all original" is a complete guess and therefore meaningless. Until you find a catalog page of the bike you have and compare the parts on the catalog to the parts on your bike you have no idea.

Pictures Speak Volumes. description with detail listing of components commands an extra $200 to $300 in value and clean and polish the fregin bike. It's like seating in a s*** used car that the owner has cigarette smell and butts all over!

Myself, I am always looking for opportunities to learn more (and naturally make more).

I don't I tend to think the quick 200.00 flip when I typically pay about 14.99 is the route I enjoy most.. Quick fast and easy.. like I like my women

That will work very well for you if you want to attract the least amount of potential customers and/or maximize the amount of time you spend answering emails with questions that could have been addressed with a few decent, detailed pix.

Exactly. You're doing yourself and everyone else a disservice by only including one terrible photo and a useless description. You'll get all kinds of calls and e-mails asking basic questions that could be easily answered with just a few good pictures. It's a waste of your time and a potential buyer's time.

When an ad looks as sketchy as yours I usually ignore it and move on unless it's an incredible deal.

It's Houston, what do you expect for a photo background? A dirty garage floor with used paint cans and ancient tool boxes with a single half underexposed and half overexposed photo from the non-drive side are sure to bring top dollar! Low resolution to boot!

Great score, good luck. You shouldn't have too much trouble at all. Couple of posters on this board are complaining about the dearth of vintage steel in Louisiana and Texas.

Every bike I sell on CL i put one pic with my galaxy S5 and a limited description.. I typically pay about 15-50.00 resale for 175-250.00. Not very much effort and they move within a week or so... Sometimes same day..

I say I flip about 5-8 a month.. But you all know more than me.. I never once asked how to post my pic, ad or description.. Was merely asking if the value was on point for this bike.. I will upload a pic of the cash when I sell it...

Nobody can tell you anything about the price with the info provided. If you can sell it for your price good for you. That doesn't mean its a fair proce, only that there is one person who values it that much.

Serial number meaningless, need to know components, better pics of drive side, details, enough to assess the condition of the bike and components.

it has a shimano derailer.. how can I tell what kind of crank it may have on it. are they stamped.. i typically just flip old bikes but now I am curious as to all these different parts and how they may increase the value.

Shimano makes many different derailleurs, from cheap to expensive, most makers do, thats why people want pictures. Also, without pictures cannot see evidence of abuse, crashes, dry rot, condition of paint and many other conditions that affect value.

That's NOT the serial number.

198X PSN10 58cm color is 'XXXXX' components are a mix with a Campagnolo drivetrain and Modolo brakes.

Your ad sucks. In fact it's one of the worst ads in the existence of time. Stop disrespecting us and our time with crap ads like that. Post up a proper picture and I'll tell what it's worth and fill in the X's. (I already know what it is so in reality I don't need a picture but I'm not doing all the work for you. Put some effort into it)
