Schwinn Traveler!

How does this one look? Is it worth the 165 price tag, or should I try and haggle? It's also a bit of a trek to get to this suburb of chicago, so that factors into this decision...

Schwinn World Traveler Womens 10 Speed 27 inch Cruiser

Edit: looks to be a '75/'76 model? Don't really know which years are "best" for the schwinn traveller...

That is a '73 World Traveler. The ladies' model came only in a very small 19" frame. The saddle, handlebars and brake levers have been changed from the original drop-bar style to a tourist style and judging from the parts used (period correct Schwinn) this was probably done by the dealer when the bike was new.

These were priced in-between the Varsity and Continental that year. I personally think the asking price is too high, however it does appear to be in good condition. Before paying anything close to that I'd make sure the small size is suitable.

Here is the catalog page from '75, showing how the bike was originally equipped (only the badge and decals were different between '73 and '75):

The bike looks to be in great condition, but the frame material is nothing special - not bad either. Like Metacortex said, it is overpriced IMO. In my market, I would be happy to get $65 - $75 for it.

It might push to $100...if in really good shape...at least in my market...

Not made in Chicago, been on the market ten days, too high priced. IMHO, $100-$120. Logistically, have them meet you half way.

Hi,
Like others have said that Traveler seems a tad on the high side.

This is not a high end bike but it does seem to be in good shape. If I were trying to sell this bike in Milwaukee, where prices are lower than in the Chicago area, I would probably be asking $100. By the way, 19" is not very small for a woman's bike; it's average.
