Serotta--no other info in ad??
Posted on local CL. Very little info and I know next to nothing about Serottas--except that he was considered a very good frame builder.
Worth looking into as a flip candidate?
Edit: I've done a little more Googling after reading "Colorado Legend" on the top tube. It looks like it might have potential for cleaning up and re-selling. I think it might be too small for me, but waiting to hear on size.
Edit: Can anyone with more experienced eyes tell what are the components in the drive train?

I just picked up a serotta and am pimping it out some to ride. sweet bikes, they seem to have a following. I suppose, as always in life, it depends on the price.

Just looked at the add, cool bike. if you get some good parts out of the deal as well (prob shimano ultegra, maybe campy) or if the bike is actually rideable and in good shape, I think you found a good buy. I paid 500 for 99 rapid tour, and thought it was an excellent buy with full ultegra that had under 1500 miles. I'd most certainly have a look to see that the frame is in good shape, but I think if you use sound judgement here, you may have a good flip at 300. I saw one that sold on this website for 900 in 2011. but who knows.

Still learning
Ben Serotta built bikes in the Saratoga Springs NY area for years. The company shut down last year.
Google it and you decide if it is already being offered at a no brainer price.
Serotta
I bought a bought a Nuvo Special off of ebay, picked it up and got a free Shimano 600 kit and wheelset after reselling the frame. The paint was more challenged than the one you are looking at.

Unless you have to drive a lot of miles to see it...go see it! That would be what I would do...then you can decide from there...but...$400 for a Serotta? Worth the time...

I agree it's certainly worth looking at. If it's Colorado Concept OS tubing and it's straight with no dents or rust, I'd be very tempted to snap it up at $400.

What Stan said. If it was my size and nearby I would have gone to the bank and handing some bills to the seller unless it has some serious problems. Hard to tell but maybe it's just dirty.

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

Appears from the grainy photos to be a Campagnolo drivetrain, you need to go look at the bike!

Thanks everyone so far. I looked through all the catalogs in the link provided by OddJob--thanks!--but I didn't see any mention of the "Legend." I'll review them again and see if I overlooked something.
(Update: I found this post in an old Road Bike Review thread: After checking my Serotta catalogs, your bike is a 93. The CR was designated as a Legend CR only in that year. In 94 Serotta reverted to the 'Colorado' name; Colorado Ti, Colorado CRL, Colorado CR, etc, to capitalize on the acclaim given to the Colorado tubing that helped make Serotta so successful. Of course, the catalogs in the link omit the 1993 year!)
The pix are bad, but the decal on the seat tube looks as though it might be the one in Stan's post.
But...I'm starting to wonder if it's a scam or something. Phone number is out of service/or incorrect. No response via email yet. If/when I can get in touch, I will definitely go look at it with camera in hand and cash in my pocket.
I may have sold my Yeti ASR 5 so the bike fund probably overflowing ;-). Now, if I can get the Q%$#!@ stem out of the Vitus....
Thanks for all the help so far. I'm going back into the Google-verse and see if I can get more info on the "Legend."

Found a pic of a very similar Colorado Legend
Here it is:
It looks very similar to me, but this one definitely has "CRL" after "Colorado Legend" on the TT. The one here (or purportedly here) seems to have nothing.

BTW, "CRL" seems to be a designation for "Long"--i.e., the top tube on a CRL was slightly longer than a "CR." Still no data on why the CL bike doesn't have anything after the "Legend."
If I don't hear back from the purported seller soon, I'll stop spinning my wheels, but it looks like a nice bike now!

It is a Serotta with Campagnolo Record for $400, this is a no brainer, get it, the parts are worth MORE than the asking price. You can put the frame up for trade in the "Frame doesn't fit" thread if it isn't your size.
