Schwinn Serial Number

Just scooped up an '81 Schwinn Le Tour. Pretty much right out of the catalog matching parts/decals. I'm wondering about the serial # though..rear drop out has 1i04909 stamped. All sources I've looked at say the letter "i" is never used in serial numbers. Head badge is stamped 1811 which confirms the 1981 year, but the serial number apparently doesn't exist.. Any thoughts?http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=449878http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=449879

That was only true for Chicago made Schwinns. So far I know that the letter "i" was in fact used on Japanese (Panasonic) and Greenville MS built Schwinns.
