Vintage raleigh price and year?? Please help :)

Hello! I have a vintage Raleigh Superbe e that was given to me by a friend and I am trying to figure out what year it is from and how much it would be worth, can anyone help me??

There are two serial numbers on the bike (these are the only one that I have found): one says 59239F and the other one says N55106895 I think, it has faded out a bit.

The gears are Sturmey Archer and it has a faded sticker that says "Oliver Somers, Wigan".

It is not in brilliant condition but I reckon it could be quite old! It also still has the original leather saddle.

Moving this to C&V Appraisals (from C&V proper).

Look at the rear hub and find the date code there. That code should offer close to the bicycle's vintage, in this case 80(1980) and 8(August)...

You can learn more about determining the Bicycle's Vintage by looking through that feature article on my website. As for value, that is tough...

Location, size, condition, vintage, time of year and your marketing skills all help to determine value of a vintage bicycle. That value is on a sliding scale, depending dramatically on the economy and/or market conditions in your area. So, with that said and knowing that this is only a rough guess, I would pay no more than $100.00 for the presented Raleigh Superbe in "as found" condition. And, I might add that the bicycle is, probably, not all that old - late seventies to mid eighties (just a guess).
