1987 Schwinn Tempo on CL - Reasonable Price?

I was swept up in nostalgia when I saw this CL listing and am seriously considering buying it - is it reasonably priced for the SoCal area?

SCHWINN TEMPO - $250 (Ventura)

Unknown model year. Barely used, no modifications. Bike has been hanging up at my parents' desert home for the past two decades. Not sure what size frame, but I'm 5'8" and fit comfortably on it.
Rims have no dents or bent spokes. Brakes (rim-type) work, but will require minor re-adjustment. Shifters work well, but due to years without use, I recommend getting a tune-up and replacing the tubes. Other than that, it's ready to ride!

It's been hanging up in the desert for 20 years; that's good and bad. The good is NO RUST. The bad is that it will need everything replaced; tires, tubes, seat, grease, hoods, bar tape, cables and housings, brake shoes; any non-metal bits will need replacing. Maybe even the nylon washers in the shifters. Add 100-150 to the price to get it on the road.

In the sunny south that's a 275-300$ bike if it's in great shape with good paint. Do the math....

I think that's a fair price. Those later model Tempos are sweet. I may be biased because I'm a fan.

As Thumpic notes, this bike will need a serious overhaul. Be prepared to spend the time/money on it and you'll have a nice bike. Do not expect to just give it a "tune up" and start riding.

im not so sure. Tempos are nice bikes but 250 for a bike you can't ride: its not like tempos are rare... you can find one in good shape and ready to go for 300

drive up to SF and get this one for 200: but be careful, its Bintage!!!!!

Many thanks each of you for your feedback and advice, I'm no longer conflicted about passing it up. I bought one in 1987 and loved it but the reality is I won't be riding like I did then. At least not yet
