Help with year/value

Hi folks. This is my first post. I've been hunting online for a while now to try and figure out the value and year of my new ride, and can't really get any further than late 70's or early 80's. Any tips? Also, I can't find any bike online sporting this paint combo, and I'm wondering if this thing is rare and potentially sought after or if it was pretty run of the mill. I think its frickin incredible, but does anyone else find this thing to be SWEET? Lemme know what you think. Thanks!

I'm not sure on the year, I've seen the scheme before. Bulgier.net should be up soon and I think you could use them to nail down the year. I like motobecane more than most other french bike manufacturers from the period. Is it special? It is if it's special to you. Is it rare or valuable? Not really.

Looks like a nice ride. It has chrome on front forks & a frame pump attached. These are features that disappeared around 1985. So, I would guess between 75 & 85. Is it equipped with Suntour? Does it have standard threaded parts? Nice original paint. You might get somewhere between $200 - $275 in a good market.

Check for 2 digit date code on the back of the cranks. Suntour Vx RD is my guess. 2040 high tensile frame, stem shifters, turkey levers, chrome rims. Not light, but a smooth ride. Super Mirages are 3rd up from the entry level Nomade, then Mirage, then Super Mirage. G

If you already bought it, then you know what the value is. Comparable to a Peugeot U0-8. You have a nice clean example there.

its top tube guides count three atop the tube, so i'll guess 1980. check the motobecane cats at bulgier.net. the site is back up.

things to look for in the catalogs are number of rear cogs, frame material, componentry, and paint scheme.

.

edit: it's a '79 or '80. check the specs pages of the bulgier catalogs and also xref any component date codes you find with the vintage trek site.

I was also thinking early 80s. The estimate above seems high to me...I'd put it in the 150 range because it's clean.

Based on the crank and combination of center pulls places it in the early 80's, swagged alloy cranks and center pulls only overlapped for a couple of years 80 to about 83 . As for value I would say around $200 give or take based on excellent condition with no issues.
