Two Eddy Merckx on local CL

Wrong size for me, but wondering about flip potential (via eBay).

# 1: Corsa 01 (model name??? or model year???) with Campy--$500

---------------------------------------

# 2: Corsa--set up as a fixed gear--$400

Judging from the SL tubes, paint and Athena parts the poor Fixie is likely around a '89/90ish bike

Both have good potential, #2 is cheaper, sure its missing some parts, but the ones remaining are good ones, and the frame looks good too.

Same seller, I'd make an offer on the pair (assuming in person inspection goes well) and part them out. With some time and effort into cleaning and polishing, you could do very well. But it is going to be a hassle.

Thanks! What about the Masi? (Same seller--separate post.) Would it make sense to make an offer on all three? (From the perspective of parting out/selling on eBay?

$1000 for all three, or $750 for the two here. Sometimes sellers really prefer getting rid of all of them at once.

Myself, the MASI is not as interesting, but could still generate a nice profit.

Price suggestion is not FMV of course, its what represents a super deal with limited risk.

I bought five bikes from a seller once where I just wanted two of them. My competition (other potential buyers) only wanted those two bikes as well. So I gave him an offer for the five, which just so happened to be what I was willing to pay for the two. Dropped the other three bikes off at Goodwill on the way home.

Deal making 101: Find out what the seller's priority is and if you can meet it, great! His #1 goal could be getting the bikes gone. Total price might be less important.

I bought a motorcycle once in late November in New Jersey. Seller needed the bike gone, so his wife could get her car in the garage before winter. So his goal was to get the bike gone, ASAP. Price was less important. Win/win.

I think you'd get an easy $400 for each frameset on ebay, leaving you with some cash in your wallet and some nice parts in your parts bin. Definitely ask the seller if he kept any of the parts from the fixified one if you decide to pursue it.

Agree on the Masi...not as interesting...but...if you could get all three for 1K, that would be a pretty good deal! And, as suggested, a deal with limited risk...

Thanks for the excellent advice. Unfortunately, I fell and broke my wrist (yes, AGAIN...Arghh) yesterday. I'll follow up with seller if they are still available. if the Merckx frames are worth something close to$400, that's encouraging.

Best,
STP
