Px10le?

So I've been looking at this bike that been advertised as a "PX10" - I'm trying to identify it and maybe figure how much a fair price would be. I've been riding around on a lower-end Peugeot commuter, and this is the first time I've considered the possibility of something nicer for non-commuting.

It's supposed to be fully original British bike, and looks to be in really good condition, and a close match to the one in the catalog.

Having gone through some threads regarding PX10 bikes with contradictory info on the suffix letters I found this old catalog (PX10E and PX10LE towards the bottom)

Here's another

And here's a British catalog scan
http://www.bikeboompeugeot.com/Broch...ochure%204.jpg

The main things that stand out to me in the description that may not match the catalog are the 52/48 "chainset" (instead of a 52/45, possible typo?), Peugeot stem with Phillipe ATX Professional bars (not AVA), and a Brooks Professional saddles (instead of an Ideale). From the photo it appears most of the other parts described are as seen on the bike.

My question is: is this a PX10? PX10LE? Would a PX10E or PR10LE be valued significantly differently? And finally what would be considered a fair price for this particular bike?

Thanks!

I've seen PX10s in the $400-600 range depending on condition. But this one looks really nice. I'd peg it at the very upper end of that range. Maybe more.

IIRC, the LE has tubular or glue on tires as opposed to more popular clincher tires. That is not the world's best photo, but it appears to be an PX10LE, a few years newer than the catalog examples due to the Peugeot logo on the downtube being more modern.

In my opinion, the changes from the catalog are immaterial.

Looks to be in very good nick with a Brooks Pro in good condition. Here in the USA, my opinion of value would be $675, +/- $50.

Strange how bikes outfitted in the same components can be had for $2-300 but put checkered flags and the Peugeot lettering on it and it's a $600 bike. I like these bikes but would value around $400. Too many other french bikes with similar components selling for well under that amount.

This is a sweet bike. While I agree with big C's sentiments on French bikes in general, the fact remains that this is a desirable bike in very good shape and will fully support an evaluation at the upper end of the range. Heck I'd think about paying real money for this bike if it were locally available.

Where can I get a full Reynolds 531 bike with a Stronglight star crankset for $200-300?

Regardless, value is not your opinion of how much you like the bike but what the market says it's worth.

Why is Celeste green paint and An Italian sounding name on a made in Asia bike worth $200 more than a Columbus Tenax Schwinn?

Looks like a 75 PX10LE to me. PX10 prices are quite depressed right now. Very nice examples can be had on Ebay for $500. Your local market may vary. This being a white lug LE it may not command as much as the black lugged E models since they are the more iconic PX10 style. This is from the picture an example in fantastic shape. I don't buy French bikes any more but I wouldn't feel bad paying $500 for that at all.

Thanks. This bike is on eBay if anyone is interested. Unfortunately it's in the UK.

Considering it's about the same price and weight as a newer, Asian made, entry-level Celeste-painted road bike.. I'm really tempted.

Has it been repainted?
