Lotus Challenger SX
Before anyone yells at me....I don't have any photos of this bike. I don't own it , yet. This is a white Lotus Challeger SX with Suntour components. The owner wants $20. Seems like a good deal, right? Well, its been outside, exposed in the owners yard for...a long time. The frame is far too big for me. I could donate or sell it. Its the components I am interested in. It has Suntour Accushift derailleurs and shifters. I could not make out the cranks...rusted. Is it worth acquiring this bike or am I taking home scrap metal? Any experience with bikes left outside exposed to elements? I guess I could harvest the headset, derailleurs shifters...or should I just walk on this one?

that bike was lower to mid range if i recall. impossible to answer without pictures.
as Bill said in another thread, some bikes aren't even worth it when free. the seatpost and stem could be rusted in place, the tubing could have rust holes, and the components could be crap or too far gone.
and accushift is just suntour's name for indexed shifting (like SIS is for shimano), not a specific model. some were horrible (like the early stuff), some were really good.

I owned this bike and also got it for $20!..Assuming its in working condition with no stuck parts--$150+.
Even though this was a low end Lotus..I thought it was fairly nice value. 700c wheelset alone is worth $70+..
I used it as a donor bike and gave the rest to a bike shop that converted it to a single speed. I should have done that.
