Raleigh Record-- worth buying?

Hello, I'm attaching a pick of a Raleigh Record on craigslist I found-- I seem to be reading it's junk before I drive over to pick it up.. is it worth paying more then 30 bucks for?

Please take a look and let me know if it's not even worth it! They fit me and I desperately need a bike. Thanks!!

These are low end bikes, but yes, I'd pay $30 for one if I needed a bike. However, that's because I can refurbish it myself. It will probably need a total overhaul. That means bearings & grease in the headset, bottom bracket and hubs. Brake cables, housings and pads. Chain and maybe freewheel. Bar tape. Tires & tubes. Etc. If you have a bike shop do this you will spend more than the bike is worth. If you can do it yourself you will save a lot of money.

That is pushing it. Complete and in good shape the bike is worth maybe $150. As is, I think $50 is the top of what you could hope to get for it.

That one's a bit later than I know, but in the 70s the Record was the cheapest thing Raleigh made with 10 speeds. It had a steel cottered crank, rock-bottom components, and most importantly, heavy, straight-gauge tubes. It was Raleigh's direct equivalent of the Schwinn Varsity. If that's what you want. . . . but I wouldn't, even though the price sounds right.

$50 for a rideable bike for a 5'5" rider is okay.

Figure Kenda tires, a Bell cable set, 4 brake pads, and a roll of tape will set you back $50 as well.

Hi guys! I decided not to get it-- It would be a pain to travel just to try and it out and then I'd have to put work into it. Thanks for your suggestions!
