Eddy Merckx Professional 80s w/ Campy Super Record and pantograph

Looking for a little help identifying and possibly dating the following bike before I post it for sale.

I believe the frame is a 80s Eddy Merckx professional. Components are campagnolo super record, strada 170 crank, cinelli bars and stem with pantograph. Wheel Mavic Open 4 CD with high flange campy record hubs. Frame size is 58 cm with a 33 inch stand over. Bike is in overall good riding condition with some cosmetic issues. One cable brazon is rusted off likely due to sweat and there is some touch up paint in that area. Ther are also some other areas where paint s rubbed off on the top tube where cable has been rubbing.

Local shop where I bought the bike said it was one of Eddy Merchx training bikes that was given to his bike tech and then passed along. No way to verify that but who knows bike could have Eddy Merckx sweet on it.

Could us a ball park value all things consider. I'm thinking about selling to help pay for an anniversary gift.

See link for detailed pictures.

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

Values on these actally sold on the Bay are all over the map due to condition and parts selection.
One I would consider in close condition to yours went for $1K. Yours - a bit less due to the cable guide.
Since Eddy did not open his factory until after his retirement, the local shop fed you a line of BS. Sorry.

I'm conflicted on this one. Frame and fork is very rough....TT cable guides are toast and the BB cable guides are gone as well. Groups is kind of mish mashed, high flange hubs aren't correct, neither is the newer Mavic rim. Brake calipers are early 80's. not sure what the brake levers are but the hoods are not correct.

IDK....$750 Fair Market Value? Worth more parted out considering the panto....

Thanks for the info...

I figured the frame issues would detract from value significantly. It rides smooth. Parting out is a good suggestion. I never put much stock in the what the LBS told me... they were just repeating what the previous owner had told them. Thanks for the input.

Also... can anyone confirm that the frame is a professional? Did some serial number research and that is the best guess.

Posted for sale in Classics and Vintage for sale forum... https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...-80s-58cm.html

Thanks for the input. Now asking $900 includes shipping and professional bike packing and insurance to lower 48 U.S. Also considering offers to part out but would rather sell all together.
