peugeot bikes
This is in Canadian dollars (185 USD)
Do they seem ok? I thought it was a bit expensive for the age but condition looks good.
Anything to check or be aware of for maintenance parts in future?

They both appear to be UO-8s or similar. Peugeot's entry level offering that they made a billion of during the 1970s.
$185 USD would be too much around here I think, even fully overhauled and ready to ride. I'd say more like $125-150 at the very top.

Stems look like the ones prone to cracking?

Still learning
IMHO, not overpriced. Montreal is almost as silly as Toronto and Vancouver regarding used bike prices. Plus, everyone wants French in Quebec.

There is a possiblity that those are the so-called "death stems" on those Peugeots, as they look like it in the pics, considerchanging them out as a givenis you end up buying any of these bikes.

The stems are most likely French spec 22mmm diameter neck. I suspect that one will have luck finding appropriate mid-level quality stems that were made by French manufacturers CTA and Atax in the French size (enter "CTA" and "Atax" at eBay and a few should pop up).... Just make sure you get the ones with the newer flush allen headed wedge bolt and not the ones with the exposed hex bolt on top and the hole at the back end of the horizontal tube (facing the rider). That will ensure that you will have a non-death stem on your bike.
