1993 Basso Gap/ Athena
All original parts, well taken care of and is in excellent condition (no scratches/dings/rust on frame, paint is 100% original, all hardware intact and in good condition). Component group is 100% Campy Athena. Size is irrelevant because it fits me, but it has a 56cm frame. Any ideas on value? Seller is asking $500.

Thanks guys. I went ahead and picked it up today. No cash paid though. I traded a Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle and a few hundred rounds of ammunition for it.

Here it is. I am still not certain of the date. Based on what I have read on the serial numbers Basso uses, the frame was made in 1988. The components would be consistent with that time frame as well. The Columbus decal indicates it is a Tretubi which means only the main triangle is SL tubing. Not a big deal - it is a middle of the road bike with the Athena components. That said, it rolls incredibly smooth and everything works flawlessly. Quite a different ride than my carbon bike. Basso fortunately offers a service where they will provide an exact date of manufacture plus other information on the bike for 20 euros. I removed the Campy Athena pedals it came with and put the clipless pedals on so I can ride it with my road shoes. Other than that and the new tires, the bike is all original.

I really like the paint job on this bike. It reminds be a bit of Alexi Grewal's spumoni colored pinarello.

That was a good trade! Nice looking bike too!
I am learning to appreciate the 80's paint schemes over time! Colnago is always OT but they are growing on me too. Spumoni is nice and not to be confused with the Italian Ice of earlier times.

I definitely made out good on the trade. I paid $60 for the rifle about 15 years ago. The ammo was maybe $30. Having drooled over bikes like it when I was a poor college student in the late 80's, I am pretty happy about it. I am still looking for a Cannondale Black Lightning though. Can't seem to find one anywhere.

@series1811 - Thanks! CL find <$480. It is my daily commuter with over 1200 miles on it this year. I actually like the "ghost" of the decals. They were black originally (fell off). Typical Italian quality decals and paint.
