late 80s, early 90s Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra

I'm building up a new bike right now, and considering selling this to recoup some of the costs.

It rides completely silent, except for the sound of the tires touching the road, has a nice humm to it.
Absolutely fantastic ride. Shifting is quick and precise.
Paint on the frame and fork is good, for being 25 years old. There are some spots that need touch up, and a polish/wax would do wonders.
Not sure what else to say, I think everyone here knows what this bike is (and more so than I do).

I'm open to suggestions on complete worth as well as parted out.

Late 80's early 90's Merckx Corsa Extra (57cm top tube)
Eearly to mid 2000's Campagnolo Record 10spd Carbon/Ti: Crankset, front/rear derailluer, levers
Chorus cassette (13-26)
Record headset
Record Titanium brakes
Campagnolo Aero seatpost (Record?)
Cineli 1A stem
Cineli Giro D'Italia bars
Mavic cosmic elite wheelset (and/or Campagnolo Neutron Ultra)
Fizik soft touch bar tape
Fizik Ardea saddle
Jagwire cables
Wipperman chain

Hard to say from 1 picture. The serial number on the BB will identify year.
Is this the SL or TSX or other tubeset?
If frame/paint is excellent with Record, I'm guessing $1,000 - $1200 on ebay - probably less on CL.

edit: check the C&V sales sub-forum. another EM for sale.

Thanks for the reply!

It's Columbus SLX.

I don't know what excellent means in the C&V world, but it looks nice for being 25+ years old. It's not perfect, or a restoration.
It looks to be a race bike, it has braze-on for a number plate, has a racers name on it, and a bike shop sticker from Belgium on the back of the seat tube.
A few small (pea size or smaller) paint chips that need touch up, but overall in good shape. I'll be cleaning it up this weekend and I'll grab some new pictures.

The serial number is "P 7XB D 5513"
According to: Eddy Merckx Serial Numbers

P - Professional
7 - 57cm
X - Corsa Extra
B - 88/89

Am I reading that right? My serial number doesn't seem to follow the same format as the other ones listed there.

I think about 11-1200 is a fair estimate but might go for a little more on eBay. I'm not sure, though, how the market is for older frames with modern parts. People shopping for Campy 10 speed might be looking for carbon frames. I have been looking lately and 10 speed groups Campy Record/ Chorus are going for $500 to $600.

I like that bike but (luckily for my bank account) not shopping right now.

Beautiful bike.

If it were local to me and it was listed in the $1000-$1300 range, I'd be over for a look. I'd imagine you'd probably find a taker somewhere in that range locally with a little time. Have to think there's enough people out there looking for a Merckx. Just about finding the person who likes that color way and updated components.

My size and exactly what I want to build. Too bad you're not local.
