Rebuilt 1981 Miyata 1000
I'll skip the saga about this bike since it's detailed in another thread, but suffice to say that it is single owner (my dad) and is now mine. He stripped it down to populate his recumbent back in the day and I recently had it built back up by the original shop who sold it into a full bike. I have absolutely no desire to sell it (think, "from my cold, dead hands"), but having just cleaned and waxed it, I'm sitting here wondering, "What's it worth" and "How theft enticing is it?". There are a few nicks in the paint I'll touch up (still have the paint) when I can get it into better light, but there is no rust, no dents and it's just shocking all shined up. I'd call it "near mint". It's more of a vibrant maroon than the picture shows.
The below picture is before cleaning off the frame saver and grease spots and putting a coat of carnuba wax on.

The parts break-down:
It went to the shop 7 years ago as a frame, forks, original Shimano 600 headset, Dia Compe 960 brakes and that rack. Upon discovering the drop-outs were old school 120mm, I had it cold set to 130mm. I later found the original stem, Suntour Gran Compe levers, Suntour Power Ratchet bar end shifters, SP seat-post and Avocet Touring I saddle in my parent's garage. The shifters and levers look brand new. I cannot explain how those old gum rubber hoods haven't shown the slightest bit of cracking, stiffness or stickiness after decades. It's still friction shift, but the triple crank is wider range than the original and went from a 5 sprocket threaded freewheel to a 9 sprocket cassette freehub.
What was added?
Velocity Dyad 700C 36 hole rims
Origin 8 hubs
DT Swiss Champion spokes
Schwalbe 700x28 Marathon Supreme tires
SRAM PG-930 cassette
SRAM PC951 chain
Sugino Triple crank
Velo Orange Touring pedals
Nitto Noodle bars
Newbaum cloth tape
Shimano UN55 sealed bottom bracket
Shimano Ultegra rear derailleur (used)
Suntour front derailleur (used, unidentified)
Coolstop Salmon pads
FrameSaver anti-rust treatment
It has zero miles on the new drivetrain/wheels. Hopefully I can take it for a spin this weekend.

Keener splendor
Hard to say. The value is in the frame. Parted out, the parts are worth about what you paid for them. In a hot market, you might be able to sell it for $600.
