Centurion Ironman with mismatched components - 350?
Hey guys,
Been eyeballing an Ironman that was posted on craigslist.
https://greenville.craigslist.org/bik/5315271659.html
The only original components I can see are the shift levers and maybe the bars/stem. Could you provide a fair value for this bike and maybe some info about the Sante components? Would you think it'd be worth a 2 hour drive?
Thanks!

As to the price 300-350 is about the going rate for IronMan's in these parts. Considering all parts are basically upgraded sounds like a sound deal although not a great "he didn't know what he had" deal.
I'd drive that far for an Ironman. Providing it was the right size, looks like a 56cm from this angle. Heck yeah can't go wrong with an ironman. The paint appears to be in great condition. Also later you could upgrade components to modern, but you wouldn't have to and still have a great bike. @RobbieTunes will be around shortly to tell you more. In the meantime check out the post your centurion ironman for the love of the 80s paint job thread. To see what can be done with those ironmans. I vote Go for it. Good luck.

Sure, it isn't a full group.
But it is some solid componentry, regardless.
Contrary to what's claimed in then listing, Sante isn't DuraAce level, but it's still really high up the chain and the white looks great with the white on the frame.
$350 is not an awesome steal, but if it fits and is something you want to keep, it's something I would buy for sure.

Agreed. And I think you can do better. Frame looks OK but kind of a mish mash of parts. Ironman bikes tend to come in waves- there were a couple of pretty nice ones for less posted lately- so just be patient and try to find an original one that just needs servicing. Or buy a frame and go crazy.
My biggest issue with Sante stuff -aside from the durability of the white finish- is that there's no quick release on the brake calipers.

Looks like a 56 to me. $350 is FMV for that bike. It may not be a matched kit, but all good stuff.

I have a taller Ironman (quick measured 24 inches seat tube) I just posted to local Craigslist. i overpaid a bit just to find out it was tool tall for me. (5-9). I had not planned to ship, but if anyone is looking. It is completely original with Shimano 105. If it will save some on shipping, I could pull the wheels. They are also completely original.
