Peugeot PFN10 - Got it!!

The seller said it is a PFN10, Vitus 181 tubing, is it the truth?
What should I pay for it?

Not sure if that's the original fork, but if its cleaned up it would look very nice. I also note that its lighter than air, and being held down by steel hooks! What's the asking price? The bike needs a lot of TLC, and what's you time worth?

Mercy! I'm seeing lots of gold. Parts package alone is worth a pretty penny. I see a $600 bike there.

It didn't ask a price yet, he wants some trade with an old balloon tire bike.

Do you mean it is a special edition bike or the parts package are something special?

marius.suirnam-

That is a bike that has had a lot of extras added to it. The owner has replaced the Simplex LJ 1000 delrin derailleurs with gold anodized, alloy, top of the line LJ 5500s. As well, he has added either Modolo Speedy or Professional Brakes in a gold anodized finish along with a non-standard fork which is probably cro-mo of some sort. The hubs may be Maillard 700 or Pelissier 2000 in gold anodizing as well. The Course is the entry level Peugeot racing bike of that era (1980s) but the one I rode with Vitus 181 had pleasant, non-twitchy handling. Everything visible looks upgraded so if you can get it for less than big chainring's guesstimate then you will have done very well and at his price point, it would still be a fair price, I believe. If the bike is straight and fits you, you may want to seriously consider the deal.

looks like a 1981 model, with Simplex Prestige Super LJ gold and A500 derailleurs. Weinmann made anodised gold brakes...

Tubular rims if that's an issue.
You can see Vitus decal above the DT shifters.

I am closer to get it. I got the old balloon tires bike and the seller wants the old, rusty bike a lot.
Hope I will get a good deal tomorrow.

Well done! You've got a good one. I think you'll really like the Simplex LJ derailleurs. The rest of the stuff is primo as well.

I think big chainring's $600 estimate might be the high end with the right buyer. Location and time of year also make a difference up or down. Consider that the Vitus 181 frame and what looks like an after market cro-mo fork might bring it down for people unfamiliar with the brand. However, a knowledgeable buyer (perhaps from here) wanting the gold gruppo is what you are looking for. The really sad thing is that the parts, if stripped and sold, would probably return more than the whole bike as it sits now.

If a keeper, I believe you will like the Vitus tubes and the Peugeot geometry.

Probably I will part the bike. I made some researches on e-bay, in the sold listings, and the gold parts can bring 400$, more or less.
I have a Motobecane Super Mirage with a bent frame and I can take the parts from that one and make the Peugeot back. This will sell in spring at 150$ easy.
The problem is to find the buyer for the gold parts.
One more question... the shifters are not gold... should be gold?

marius.suiram-

The silver coloured shifters currently on the bike are the original friction shifters from the OEM LJ 1000 gruppo. The gold Super LJ gruppo had matching gold Retrofriction levers, gold Mafac Competition centerpull brakes and a gold Philippe stem.

thanks.
so if I will sell the gold parts, they shouldn't be all together. The derailleurs, the brakes+ levers and the wheels/hubs.

If you sell the derailleurs together, the brake calipers and levers as a set, and the wheels built up you should get fair bids for them. If you try to sell them all together as a gruppo, I think you will get less since it lacks the shift levers and stem to complete it. Good luck with it. You may want to offer the pieces here first as you have an aware group of hobbyists. Perhaps try the bike itself here as well once you rebuild with the Motobecane salvage parts.

I know, but the problem is I don't have a pay-pal yet, Can I pay with postal money order?
To whom and where should I send it?
Actually I should pay 20$ for two years.
