Schwinn High Sierra puzzle
I've had this for a while and am trying to figure out what's up with it. I'm pretty sure it's an '84
as I've had one previously, but there's a lot of stuff going on with it that doesn't match up and
has me confused:
Head badge – no High Sierra in logo
fork Crown
no fast back seat stays
Different parts: Specialized/Mountainbikes bull moose bar, hubs and headset. Suntour XC-1pedals, Sugino AT crank (dated 12-82)
Downtube decal – what’s left of it is different
Serial # BS367xxx
My guess is that it’s just an early production model and changes were made during the run.
Any thoughts?

You might want to add pics and description of your bike to that older thread, would be interesting to compare.

1984 was pretty early in the MTB story. Could have been changes during model year. Schwinn wasn't as deep into them as like Ross was, in the same MTB era.

I have seen three other Schwinn MTB frames with this format of serial number. All appear to be for the 1984 model year. I think that the first number in the serial number is the year of frame manufacture, in this case 1983. I think these frames were made in Japan.
Later in 1984 many of the Schwinn MTB frames have a Giant of Taiwan serial number.
