Usually, it is the fifth number in the Raleigh sequence that
indicates the year of manufacture, but since Raleigh has
been making the Grand Prix for several decades, the 1 isn't
much help. What color is it?

+1 $169 is a bout the high end for a nicer Grand Prix in near prestine condition fully serviced ready to ride with good tires. Typical thrift store Grand Prix likely 80's Huffy built one in rough condition $50. I couldn't see paying more than $100 for a thrift store GP even if it's in great shape.
