Looks OEM around 1989, to me, which would be right, but questionable as I only thought 7-Eleven Team bikes came with Dura Ace?

What do you guys think?? Seems cheap for the price??

Eddy Merckx 7-Eleven Team Full CAMPAGNOLO 57.5cm

Not an actual Team bike, obviously. Merckx sold these with either Dura Ace or Campy, in Corsa, Corsa Extra, and Corsa01, possibly other tubesets as well. Some minor variations in paint schemes as well as chrome.

Not a bad price if it's in really nice condition.

Yep, it's a Merck Corsa? in Motorola colors with C era Chorus. Very nice bike, but I don't think a team bike. Under 1,000 would be a good price on that i think. Not sure what that seatpost is, maybe even a plain jane japanese, and mountain bike SPDs. I wouldn't do near 1,700.

Looks like a Corsa Extra to me....wasn't the difference the Corsa came with SL tubing as compared to the this using the better SLX tubing??

I've seen 1989 slurpie replica team Corsa Extras with chrome fork and semi internal cable routing on the top tube.....which make me think this is an 1988 model.

I usually ride a 58cm...........this being a 57.5 I'm waiting to hearas to the crank arm size on this one

Looks like an American Classic post---- which is nice but an odd choice --- Bob Roll reportedly used a Deore XT post on his.
The Team used DA an that would surely be most correct for a full team replica build, (which i've seen at $2500 and more) --- but when most of these were released into the wild, they were released as framesets with the new owner haing the ultimate say in what went on them

to me that bike is in that gray area where it would sure look better at 12 or 1300, but if i really wanted one i could figure out a way to justify tha price. My justification is usually
"Well, what does $1700 buy me new?--- Aluminum bike with Shimano 105". Vintage bikes are a relative bargain

Yeah.........not excited about it being Campy or chorus and the cranks are 172.5's as I expected.......but I'll offer him a $1000 for it.

The 7-11 is the Merckx bike to get. There is one right now on craigslist sfbay area where I got the guy down to an even one thousand dollars...nicer bike IMHO. I don't want it though because it's too big for me...so...go for it

A Merckx Corsa with a nice Chorus group is an $800 to $1000 bike, the seller is expecting a big premium for the 7-11 paint. He'll probably get it too.

I believe that this is actually a 1990 Corsa in 7-Eleven livery. However, I agree that it is not an actual team bicycle. The team bicycles came with number pegs, not pump pegs.

For sure. No problems at all. I hope it works out for you. As I've mentioned, the owner seems pretty nice and he told me he would take 1000.0 for it, so I am assuming that will still work. Let us know what happens

Very nice bike despite not being an actual team bike it's worth $1200 or so. Actual team bikes are really only significantly more desirable if the were actually raced by significant rider in a major race. They ride the same rather they were a raced team bike or just the same model nicely setup, no real reason to pay the Team bike premium if you just want to use it as a rider Erocia.

Thinking of riding the April Erocia in a 7-Eleven kit..or is that frowned upon by the masses...like wearing a jersey with the rainbow colors??

I think you need non aero brake levers for Eroica --- what a bike -- is it a Dura Ace build kit on this one, or Campy also? -- (i cant tell as i am using a small tablet tonight)

It's OEM Dura Ace - Yeah! Good Eye DMC! I'll ask if those are the original brake hoods.......

One thing that will have riders rolling their eyes is the front quick release lever that is pointing forwards.

Yep I drove down and got it and it's SWEET! Currently at the shop having the BB and hubs scrutinized and for changing back to OEM Dura Ace seatpost, Cinelli/Eddy Stem, 28t rear cog, non aero brake levers, new/old bar tape, new/old seat, new cables and white cable housing.

Mike, the original owner showed me the original bill of sale! He said he rode it infrequently for 5 years and it hung in the garage for the last TWENTY years ....so it's like new and the guys at the shop were OMG as to it's like new condition!

Not happy having to go backwards in technology to put non aero brake levers on for just this ride..but I will...........rounding up parts now. Are you going make it with yours in April??

Fantastic. Congrats on a great purchase. I believe all the 7-11 riders WERE using aero levers at the time they were riding Merckx bikes. Some even had STI at that time and were NOT using down tube. Can you use look pedals for that bike ride? They seem awful fussy. I would think down tube shifters and steel frame sets would be enough to fit the criteria.

Oh Oh...you may want to hold on a minute. L'eroica does not permit bikes made AFTER 1987....ouch....the 7-11 Merckx bikes started around 1989...This could keep you out of L'eroica If you ride that Merckx 7-11. On the other hand//I think it would be almost impossible for anyone there would know when those bikes were produced. I doubt the people in charge don't look that closely. I also just learned that you can NOT use clipless....ouch...that may leave me out. I wonder if they turn away someone that shows up...after paying the entry fee....who is using aero levers, or clipless pedals?? Refund? I bet a lot of the participants "stretch" the rules a bit and get away with it.

The regulations read you can use a newer frame if you use older bit and pieces...aka: non aero brake levers and clipless pedals.

It is time, trouble and money to change out the brake levers to non aero for just one ride.....but I plan to.

I already bought some Shimano 600 pedals with toe clips and straps for this one ride...but that was only $45

I was thinking I would keep it original from the factory but now I think after this ride I will just change it to STI...not sure yet

Dang!!! Andy there? OMG... I may have to go after all. My Merckx 7-11 bike has Andy's name on it..literally....I sent him an email and a picture of it and he replied that my bike very well could have been one that Eddy made for him...so that would be ultra cool. I'm thinking Andy may be riding one of the bikes that he builds with his brother. I do have STI on my bike so I would have to switch back to down tubes and, of course swap out the pedals...yuck....happy to hear that you CAN use a newer frame..great news...If I go, I will set up a meeting time and see if we can get a 7-11 group going...maybe with ANDY...that would be the bomb
