1977 Puch Cavalier Mixte - Value?

Hi,

My wife has a '77 Puch Cavalier Mixte bike (yellow) purchased new in 1977. I believe everything is original except the front fork which was bent in an accident (do not know brand of replacement). The bike is in overall very good condition.

We would like to get an idea of the value.

I do not have pictures as of now but can get them and post here.

Also, how does one get the ability to post to the Classic and Vintage Sales forum (I do not have that option currently)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

First off, welcome aboard!

You mean how do you post it for sale on this forum? It's not free....you have to get a paid membership to do that here. Click on Elite Membership at the top.

I'll bet you mean you have a '77 Puch purchased in that year. Purchasing a '97 in '77 would be a neat trick.

Pix will help tremendously toward a valuation. But I wouldn't expect too much from a 40 yr. old mixte. Puch and Austro-Daimler are the same bike company, with A-D being the higher line. Puch made a lot of bikes during the '70's bike boom, mainly low-end.

In some urban areas - say Portland, OR - mixtes that have been reworked sell fairly well as commuters. But as is, sadly, not much love these days unless something special is going on with them. For ex., I spent some time in Sacramento, and I saw a lot of French mixtes being reworked as city or cargo bikes. Didn't see the same happening with other mixtes, tho.

The buyers for your bike are not collectors but someone who is looking for inexpensive transportation to work or school or someone who's looking for mild recreation. $50 - $150 depending on your market and bike condition.
