Cannondale R600

There is a Cannondale R600 at my local bike shop that looks like it is in near perfect condition. It think it is a year 2000 model and I'm wondering what it might be worth. The shop is asking $500 for it. I don't have any pictures but if you all tell me that it might be worth it I will go back and take some.

Thank you all in advance!

I'm new here so I don't know for sure, but for more recent bikes you can find info at: 2000 Cannondale R600 - New and Used Bike Value

I don't know how well their prices match up, but according to that Like New through a Private Party is about $260

If the brifters are in working order , i'd say $350 is more like it in the condition you describe --- the blue book is a decent resource, but is not perfect

That bike came with a mix of RX-100 and 105 Shimano componentry. I recently bought one, - cranks, shifters and derailleurs were 105 while hubs and brakes were RX-100

The shop is looking for a home run at $500 ---- or they may figure if enough people go in and look at their other bikes for between $1500 and $3500 that dont look any more special than the $500 used bike, -- someone may bite --

Thanks for the info. I am definitely in a seller's market but that is way to much to ask for that bike. I'm glad I asked about it first.

Bicyclebluebook is worthless IMHO. They don't provide any detail as to how their valuations are arrived at nor any actual comps. Trade in values at an LBS are affected by what the trader is trading up to. BBB values are consistantly lower than what I sell for, aften by 50 percent.

Ebay solds are a good comp for certain bikes and the experienced traders rebuilders here are an excellent resource.

Does that mean you think $500 is a fair price?

A private party sale would yield $350 +/-, so with LBS overhead like rent, insurance, labor, etc, $450 or more is not out of the question. Urban areas on either coast and university college towns are more expensive.
