Kestrels!
I saw two Kestrel 200 on CL: one is a sc 200 and the other is a 200 ems.
Here are the links:
Kestrel 200 SC
Kestrel 200 EMS
The first one has Shimano 7400 and the second has Shimano 5700. How are the other components?
It looks (to my novice eyes, with basic research) like the 200 EMS has better (newer?) components. I may be wrong though.
Is $700/$800 a good deal for these bikes? I'm a little worried about old carbon, but they look like they're in pretty good condition.

Still learning
Your first post was for an every day bike to use on the rough streets of Chicago. If that's still the case, stop looking at Ferrari's for every day use. The cool factor will only last until it get's stolen the minute your eyes turn away from the bike. Furthermore, racing bikes make for lousy everyday transport; no room for fenders, lightweight tires 25mm max, no eyelets for racks, twitchy handling.
If I haven't discouraged you enough, go ride both, as it's the same seller, then decide. They are both very nicely setup, for non city duty.

one link is to a cannondale, but i found the other kestrel. if you have the cash then go get the bike you want. I have seen them cheaper but rarely so nice and ready to go. as above, not the best city bike.. too dang nice for one: but I can give advice and not take it, as I ride my look hinault as my daily commuter in the city... so.

Yeah I think I've already decided on a city commuter, but I'm getting sucked into looking at nicer and nicer bikes.
It'd be so nice to have a commuter bike and a racing bike...
Also I don't know why the Cannondale came up. Must have mixed my craigslist tabs

personally, i think the Kestrel sc/ems/sci is one of the prettiest bikes ever made. It is HIGH on the list for sure just because of that. but its not something you want to leave outside- probably even for 5 minutes. which can be a pain if its your main mode of transport. I use my better bikes to commute- home to work (store it the office) and back to home. if I am going grocery shopping or to see a movie i grab my diamondback transporter.]
that could be a method for you. get the kestrel, and then go find a $50 MTB thats ugly as heck to run local errands. works for me.
