I added a few more pics. To me it doesn't seem to be repainted because all the detail paint around the lugs is neat but no perfect and connected. But it is strange the tubing decal isn't there when all the other decals are in tact. Unfortunately, I'm still very unclear on the year of the bike. But I appreciate all your responses

I'd just be checking the date codes on the OEM rear derailleur, both crankarms and all four hubs locknuts. If the're consistent, the frame should be no more than a year off of them. My gut reaction is circa 1982-1985 based on the presence of a front derailleur tab, lack of chrome on the stays and the apparent absence of dual bottle bosses. However, the internal cable routing is a mystery.

For sure the lug lining was done by someone post-factory. I'm still leaning towards it being a repaint. A very good one, but a repaint.

I wouldn't worry about re-chroming that fork. For one, once you see how much it will cost...

Try some rust-busting suggestions from the C&V guys - you might get most of it off.

You do not deserve this reply and I'm not going to argue with you any longer; yours is 1987 'cose is identical to one of mine which was dated by Damiano De Rosa.

It might be a custom made frame as internal cable routing was provided on requests for custom made frames (I have learned that from a guy that ordered a bike back in the 80s at the Cusano factory)

It's also close to identical to others that have been dated 1983 and 1984. And in any case, buh bye.

Considering that your reply is not useful, who cares, since it's also close to identical to others that have been dated 1983 and 1984.

As I posted earlier., the frame is likely a 1980 frame.

@parken just want to know. I will be keeping this bike for a long time to come. And just wanted some more info on it. It's my first big buy. And I can't wait to ride it.

Just so you guys know I paid $825 for the bike and the guy threw in the old parts before the upgrade as I stated before. he also threw in 2 giordana de rosa jerseys 1 with tags one without(looks new) he said he used it a few times and almost a complete set of campy tools. Pretty cool. I think I got a good deal. Would you guys agree?

I would agree. Is there evidence of their having been a tubing decal there before? The tubing decal sometimes gets buggered by stand clamps it might have been removed after that happened. It's a beautiful bike. I would love to have a similar one. Enjoy. I won't speculate on the year because I don't know de rosa very well, but to me this bike looks a lot like an early 1980s model based on the features others have stated, derailleur tab, lack of chrome, super record group, cinelli 1R, single bottle cage.

I'm not sure of what you mean with a set of campy tools but you have got a fair deal and a superior bike to ride "for a long time to come".
If you have the chance ask the original owner if he had the frame custom build: as said above the cable internal routing of the top tube wasn't a standard option...

There definitely were De Rosa's with internal brake cabling in 1980.

With all the panto parts, great condition (even if a repaint) and extras, I'd say the price was very, very good. Glad you plan on holding onto it - ENJOY!
