Ballpark my CILO SLX frameset
Will be passing this one on to the next person who will love her. She's too small for me, hence the raised seatpost.
1985 Swiss-made Cilo SLX frame and matching fork. Columbus SLX tubing, Gipiemme drops and ends. Original paint with a few cosmetic issues, small nicks here and there. The worst is on the rear triangle and the drive-side chainstay, where the chain must have come off for a previous owner and managed to cause two slight dings. Some tire rub on one side.
What's the ballpark I should be asking for this thing? Can include the nearly-new Shimano sealed BB, Kalloy whatever seatpost, and the nearly-new Velo Orange Grand Cru headset.
Gracias.
Billy

As a general observation, high quality 1980's racing frames in good condition often sell for about $300 or so. Of course there are certain names that command a premium, although I don't think Cilo is one of them. As a buyer, for that frame under $300 would strike me as a pretty good deal, while over $400 would be getting expensive. Very nice frame btw.

Anyone else willing to chime in?

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

Start about $400 if on the pirateBay but then you have to hassle with shipping and surly buyers.

Does this have a swiss threaded bottom bracket? Just asking because those things aren't easy to find and that will have a bearing on the price. The Cilo I used to own and gave to my brother was a great bike but it had a swiss BB.

Both the BB and HS threads were Italian. Sourcing the bottom bracket wasn't too difficult (Amazon) and I installed an ISO headset, which threaded on just fine (after doing a bit of research to confirm).

I think Cilo was pretty much a mid level brand, maybe upper mid level at best...... Mostly seen as on-par with Vitus as many of them were re-branded Viti (979s) in the 80's
Their steel bikes might fetch much more money though...especially the top line models like the one shown by the OP......
