Loves me them mid-80 Raleighs. You'll find they don't get much value placed on them around here though.

The Grand Prix was the entry point to Raleigh USA's 4-model racing lineup in 1986. Front triangle is Reynolds, stays and fork are chrome-moly. Yours appears to have the original 105 group intact, looks very clean and ready to ride.

Normally I'd say $150-$175 figuring it would need consumables but I'm going to assume yours is ready to roll and could possibly bring $200. I've seen these sit on CL forever at $250 so can't really see it going any higher.

Ditto what Plonz said, I did not know about that "4-model racing lineup" but I know this is a good bike.

What I don't know is if being a bike for a tall person, which this one appears to be is an additional factor. 35" stand over I'd guesstimate.

Well, I wouldn't discourage setting the price that high.

My reasons for saying this, it seems a lot of Raleigh bikes with 531 frames are selling for about $225-$250 or more; Super Courses are and they are straight gauge Reynolds tubing 531.

531 seems to be a bit of a magic word on Craig's, quite a few have sold rapidly around here when that is attached to the description.

$300-$250. This is a clean bike with nice parts and frame.

There is a market for quality vintage bikes. Write a good CL ad and talk about any work you've done rehabbing the bike as well as the quality of the parts.

If you can get $250+ for a Grand Prix I say go for it. Keep in mind, this is an Asian built Raleigh which are typically valued lower than a British Raleigh. Don't get me wrong, I love these Raleighs and they are great values for the buyer but not so much the seller. There is a top of the line Prestige on eBay right now that didn't get a nibble at $299 + $12 shipping. It's relisted as an auction and I bet it goes for $250. 3 notches up from a Grand Prix.

I posted an inquiry about a Schwinn Super Sport and got mostly values in the $200 range with high side of $300. Tenax tubed bike that is arguably superior to a 531 front triangle Grand Prix. I own an 85 Tempo and an 84 Competition and am confident in the comparison.

But as we know, it only takes that one person to prove any of us wrong! Try listing it at what you want and let us know how it goes.

The subject bicycle is a 1987 model not a 1986. It may have been built in late 1986 but it is definitely a 1987 model, as New 105 came out that model year.

While I don't follow prices closely, IMO this bicycle should be going for close to $300. Based on what I've seen on this forum lately, that seem to be the going price for a comparable condition Centurion Ironman Expert which is very similarly spec'd model. The only drawback that I see to selling this bicycle might be the colour scheme. The pastel green and pink might not appeal to the average American male these days and it's far too big for most females which might be more attracted to the colour combination.

I have a good market here for the Raleighs bikes.
Usually they sell in less then a week (at least the entry level bikes like Grand Sport, old Grand Prix, etc. At the price 160...180).
I also post a Super Course TT on CList.
Will see what happens
