Is this a good price? 1960's Schwinn Suburban 5 speed
Here's a pic. Guy wants $30 for it. Needs tires and some tlc. What's the price for something like this? If it's not worth $30, how much should I offer for?

I bought an old Univega once. It was on Craigslist for $25... the guy took $20 for it. I had to cut the rusted chain off with cable cutters. It was a ton of work (and more than a couple bucks) to bring it back... and I really enjoyed it.

Free is the right price for it and I am not being a smart ass about it. Patience and vigilence can reward you with a much nicer Schwinn that you can ride rather than spend hours cleaning off rust. Here is my Speedster, which cost me $75 in condition as shown.

I'd have to agree that free is the right price. If he wants $30.00 for it make sure it's rideable when you get it - i.e. has tires and tubes, brakes work, chain is OK, steering is OK, etc.

The Suburban was first offered in 1970. That looks like a '71 or '72 Suburban in Burgundy, the only two years that color was offered. If you want it I'd offer $20 and then go to $25 if that wasn't accepted.

Thanks guys, I'll probably pass on this one. It's actually kinda hard to find bikes around here that are priced reasonably.

Go to garage sales if you find craigslist pricing too rich. I took a quick look at central SD CL and see 7-10 great deals on there, all for less than $200.
