Peugeot Tourmalet (PH10) Value?

So just to preface, I'm planning on flipping this bike, however, It is very hard for me to determine a value of this bike.I don't want to underprice or overprice and rip someone off.I purchased this bike on a whim and paid 60$.I'd greatly appreciate it if you could take time out of your day to analyze this bike and give me a good appraisal.I checked online a lot but it varies and people seem to come to the consensus that this bike isn't as good as the other Peugeots.I plan on getting rid a lot of the rust and I might paint it.Anyways, please check out the pictures and help me out, thanks!

Your bike is from about 1987. Non-lugged frame, middling components, and in semi-rough condition, points to the fact that you likely paid fair market value for it at $60. In your pics I see no reason to repaint it. If you overhaul all the bearings in the bottom bracket, headset, hubs, and pedals and then replace all of the needed consumables like cables, bar tape, brake pads, tubes and tires, and you have a $250 bike in my market.

I would say $150-200 nicely cleaned up with all the rust treated fully serviced ready to ride. This one is a just above entry level model in pretty rough shape, bad rust on nearly everything and the stem looks over extended maybe bent. As a flip this one will be iffy on making any money by the time you fix it up.

Wow, thanks for the reply that helped a lot.At least I know that it's original.I'm not sure if I'll completely restore it, but I might get rid of all the rust and re-paint it.The tires should also get replaced. What would be the highest it'll go in your opinion with nothing fixed just rust removed?

I see no reason to repaint it. If you don't overhaul it (and I never sell about without overhauling it) and put new tires on it, $100 tops.

Agreed that repainting is a bad idea. A professional repaint would entail complete disassembly and reassembly, and you'd have to pay a mechanic $100 or more to do that, unless you're an experienced bike mechanic who has all of the special tools needed for such a job. Anything short of a pro repaint would be pointless.

In any event, a repaint, even a pro repaint, would probably decrease the price that a buyer would be willing to pay. Peugeots are among the bikes that are worth more with the original finish and decals.

Repaint? No; Consumables? Yes; Get Rid of Rust? Yes...left with a $150 bike in my market...and more than $150 into it...you should consider parting it out as opposed to selling it whole...generally, you get more money, but you will still need to get rid of the rust to maximize your return...but, you would not need the consumables.

Hey Omega776, if the Peugeot PH10LE is still available, I would be an interested buyer - especially if you are located locally to me (in CA).

As shown, you paid FMV for it, at best $20 under fair value.

If you want to learn to refurbish bikes, you have a viable candidate there. However, you need both consumables and tools.

It needs a full frame strip and rebuild. Many of the spokes are rusty. It has a cheap aftermarket rear derailleur on it. Does the seat post move? $125 in parts as a minimum: tires, brake hoods, cables, cable housing, rear derailleur, saddle, bar tape. It probably also needs, tubes, brake pads, new bearings, chain, another $35.

At the end of the day, if all the rust has been scrubbed away, the bike is worth $225 +/- if well presented and finished.
