Trek Cirrus 531 appraisal

Hi, I got a Trek Cirrus from a friend for a good price recently, but it is definitely too big, and am looking to trade with someone or a bike shop to get a smaller but similar bike. Before I do that though, I would like to have an idea what the value of the bike is! I've seen estimates of $400-$500 for some similar bikes on here. I live in the Portland area, so I feel like I should be able to get a decent amount for it. I'm guessing the frame is like 57 cm. It seems to be in pretty good condition, but does need a little tuning up.

Hope the pictures upload....

The photos would need improvement, outdoors would help, if you really want to sell the bike for top dollar. It is a 520 Cirrus, 1985 or 1986.

Needing work, most likely a full overhaul, FMV of $275, +/- 10%. Ready-to-ride, $350-$375.

That's a nice one. Deore, cantilevers, & 531 frame. If it were completely overhauled & shiny with all new tubes, tires, chain, brake pads, cables, etc. etc. etc., you could get over $475 for it. As -is probably about $275.

That looks like the '87 520 I just bought. Ebay, $305 plus shipping. And it looks smaller than a 57 cm

I don't think Trek made a 57 cm bike so this either a 54 or 56 (looks to be a 56 to me).
Anyway, nice bike.

Portland is a pretty hot market and Treks tend to command a premium. Plus this is a fairly desirable model. So the estimates you've seen of between $400-$500 aren't crazy but that is for a bike that has been properly fixed up with consumables replaced, overhauled, new cables, new chain, etc. As is, somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 is about right given the market and the bike.
