Is this Raleigh 531c anything special

I'm intrigued by this Raleigh but I can't seem to figure out what it is. It appears to be an 80s Raleigh USA frame/fork, made of Reynolds 531c, has a Raleigh USA headbadge but Made in England on the seat tube.

I know Raleigh made some higher end 531c frame sets for racing in the 80s. Any ideas if this is one of those and how "exclusive" it might be?

Reynolds 531C came out in 1983, but this is closer to 1986-1987. I remember when Pete Pensyres road frames with this livery in the Race Across America. It's a high end frame but not top of the line. It may or may not be SBDU manufacture. The serial number should tel us for sure.

Had a USCF team on those "back when".
Contracted for Mfg in Blighty by Huffy/Raleigh USA they were straight, well mannered and solid for road racing.

Good results for us and the BB didn't back out under load like the Ital high priced spread....

"Exclusive"? Not then, but how many survive today?

I may have a Mfg production tag for mine around here somewhere, or not.

@T-Mar
@Bandera

Pretty scary the amount of knowledge you guys have on this.

I'm beginning to like this one more and more. Seller's measurements are a little small for me but I may have to check it out myself just to make sure. Thanks gents!

Retrobike.co.uk is a good forum that has a lot of threads and information about the UK built Raleigh's.

I think this is a really nice frame, those wraparound seatstays look great and 531c wasn't for low end frames.

Nice frame for sure, but the mustard and ketchup paint scheme is a whopper!

It was on CL for $100 and is now gone. I think was a smidge too small for me anyway.
