Miyata 718a is it worth buying?

I found this bike on my local Craigslist and reading up on it seems like a good deal as the guy said he would go $75 for it.

https://rockford.craigslist.org/bik/5710273584.html

It's for my Girlfriend who would be new to riding road bikes.

Thanks

Try your luck in the appraisals forum. This isn't exactly the right place to ask. Close though.

The bike appears to have been sitting for many years and is going to need work. $75 is a very good deal if you can handle any repairs that may be needed.

Looks better than 90% of the bikes from the early 1990's, the cables don't even look rusty. Buy it, she'll like it, awesome deal.

For sure. It'd be a decent deal at twice the price.

The ad now shows $100 but a very solid deal at that price.

So I ended up getting it for $70. Rusty change and rear cassette was rusty, handlebar tape worn but otherwise good shape.
