How can you tell if a bike has been stored unused for about 45 years ??
Check out the tires.
Isn't this a hoot !! The bike has been hanging up for so long (and through so many southern Ontario summers) that the natural rubber in the original gum-wall tires got cooked.
Just got it yesterday - I'll post a few pix when it gets washed. A bit of mud & decades of dust.
Like all good CCM bikes of the time, the three main tubes are low-end hi-ten Reynolds.
I removed the centre-stand, which was original equipment.

Actually, it's a 1972 model. The Formula 1 was only produced for one year. I suspect they rec'd a cease and desist order from the FIA. It would be renamed the Concorde for 1973, with a switch from Huret to Simplex derailleurs. The main tubes are plain gauge manganese-molybdenum steel, not hi-tensile steel. It was 3rd in CCM's line of four, adult, lightweight bicycles.
