Suntour Superbe group. Any idea of the exact year and value?

Looks like its in excellent condition, probably worth $450-500 on fleabay, the Superbe group in that great shape is worth a bunch. Sorrry cant help with accurate year but assuming 84-85.

^ great bike and I agree with the estimated $500 range. Superbe group does well on eBay although by no means at Campy Record or DA7400 levels.

Also agree bike is somewhere in front half of 80s. 2 signs are cable guides on top of the BB and non-aero brake levers.

One of the nicer Allez I've ever seen. Thanks!

Concur with the others; this is a desirable bike in great shape and fine components. It also doesn't pop up very often.

It shouldn't be 1982, as that is 2nd generation Superbe, which came out in 1983. I believe that they started watering down the group in 1986 by substituting Dia-Compe brakes. Many of the mid-1980s Allez were manufactured by Miyata, so we may be able to get an exact year from the serial number. Alternately, you can start checking component date codes.

Thanks guys for all the info.
I agree the bike should be 83.
The serial number is M 359xxx.
I read yesterday about an Lxxxxxx made in 82, maybe M is 83
Maybe I am wrong...

An M-code, for a Miyata manufactured frame, would be 1984. Based on the samples in my database, it's low enough that it's definitely not a 1985 model manufactured in late 1984.

Thanks T-mar. Should be a 84?
What about the "L" serial?
Who is doing those frames?

I wonder if that's the same type bike that they used to film American flyers? The movie was filmed in 84 and released in 85, so possible.
Your bike is cool, I'd keep it.

I've been watching for one of these, I would love to own one. One was listed on Ebay recently with a $595 or Best Offer. It sold in about 24hours on a best offer,so not sure what the selling price was.

Indiana is close to Ohio. My boy is in college in Columbus, which is 3 hours away from you.
