1986 Centurion LeMans RS

I've had this bike for the better part of a year. It was in fairly rough shape when I got it but it cleaned up nicely. I'm finding the bike is a bit large for me both in height and reach so I'm considering selling it on. Everything on the bike is original except for the wear items. The frame and paint are in good condition other than the scratches on the top tube that are visible in the picture. The frame is double-butted Tange Champion #2 and the forks are Tange Mangalloy.

I've put on new pedals (it had crappy broken clipless pedals when I got it), bar tape, front and rear brake cables and housing and cable housing at the rear derailleur. I've also cleaned it top to bottom including the brake hoods which came clean but are still a bit off-white due to age and exposure. Shifting and brakes are properly adjusted and work well. The bike really rides nicely.

It will probably need new tires before too long and the rear freewheel is showing it's age but not affecting shifting yet. Chain is in good condition and not ready for replacement.

I'm trying to get an idea of the resale value of this bike.

Dont know what your market is like but mid level centurions like this can command a premium. The right buyer might pay $250+ but the savy buyer would feel taken spending much more than 150...

$250 gets a decent Ironman these days. I'd say closer to $175, perhaps $200 if the buyer just has to have it.

I'm thinking $175 on the higher end. I've seen Lemans sit when over $150.

Paid $200 for my Ironman with mismatched wheels. It didn't look it at the time but it was very clean underneath. I wouldn't have given as much for a Lemans.

Advertise it on Gainesville CL for $200. There must be a shortage with campus back in session.

I may put it up on the G'ville CL, however, that is about 1.5-2 hours away from Jacksonville, and not many folks will drive up here for a commuter bike. We do have several colleges here in Jax though and I have sold a fair number of bikes to students. Properly priced bikes on Jax CL go pretty quickly since Jax people have gone nuts on their pricing. I see the same bikes listed for months at a time, overpriced and in crappy condition. Not like it was a year or two ago...

Stone Mountain park is a fantastic place to ride. One lap around is about 5 miles. And, the weather is nice enough that you can ride there year round. But I digress..........Inside the perimeter (ITP) Atlanta that Centurion would probably go for around $250. Outside the perimeter it would probably sell for about $100 at a garage sale. I buy most of my bikes OTP. Sell them ITP.

That's a great bike, had a LeMans RS, but looks like a large size, will take someone special to want it.
Sell to the first 175 so you get can get a bike in your size, make a world of difference.

I sold one in Denver this spring which is a pretty hot vintage bike market and got $225 for it. Had it listed at $300 with several interested parties but eventually had to bring the price down to get someone to actually show up with cash.

Mine was basically showroom condition (less than 100 miles total) down to the tires which basically hadn't been ridden on. I would've held out longer because of the condition but needed to fund another purchase so let it go.

I'd value yours at about $200$225

Just a quick update. It took a couple of weeks on CL, but I managed to sell the bike for $200.
