Peugeot 70s 531 worth buying?
Hello this on sale. Unsure how much to pay. I have read 531 is best material Peugeot used and it is light. Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

The pics don't expand so difficult to determine the condition of the bike. This has a reynolds 531 double butted main frame and looks to be hi tensile steel fork and stays. Given what I can see of the paint job, this looks to be a PKN 10. Not peugeot's top of the line but a very good bike. It's odd seeing the mix of campy and shimano stuff on this bike. That's certainly not what it came with originally in the US; are you located in Europe?
Condition and location matter in valuing a bike. I'd say this is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $200-$250.

While Reynolds 531 was very good tubing, it was available in two diameters. plain or butted sections, several gauges and was sometimes combined with lesser grade tubing. In this particular case, only the three main tubes are Reynolds 531 butted tubes. The stays and forks are lesser grade material.
The frame appears to be a circa 1979-1981 Peugeot PKN10 based on the tubing, grpahics and chromed fork tips. Unfortunately the bicycle is in quite rough condition and some of the componets have been changed. The frankenbike nature makes it very difficult to place a value without better pictures to identify all the major components.
Unless, you capable of doing your own work, this bicycle is probably not for you, as it is going to require a complete overhaul. Also, given the condition, it may require new parts beyond the strandard tyres, pads and cables. This bicycle is from the period when many of the components were non-standard metric size and French threading, which can make it difficult and expensive to obtain parts. Personally, based on what I'm seeing and the unknowns, I would have to get this for under $100 and if I wasn't experienced on working with French bicycles, I would even touch it.

Still learning
Believe OP is in the UK. I've bought those for about $100 US in similiar condition. The example above though, has a mishmash of non-original components, some good and some meh.

Thank you all for feedback. I live in England. A bit sad that it is common for vintage bikes to have original components changed. Seems too much work to be done and I can only change flat tires. Ha. Reckon it will sell for $70-80. Thank you much.

Bike ended up selling for $80 on ebay UK. I need to be a bike mechanic in my next life time. Ended up buying an '84 PSV in pretty good condition. Collecting it in two weeks. Cannot wait. Thanks all for feedback.
