1986 Miyata Pista Value Opinions pls...
I can't do much about pictures, right now, since I am working on a new laptop (my other one went up in smoke - POOEY-STINKO!) and I can't install my software until payday, when I get to buy an external DVD player). Anyway...
Though I never thought an eighties bike would interest me, I stumbled upon a mid eighties Miyata Pista in excellent condition and absolutely original (tires are shot and there is a scuff on the original saddle). Mine is identical to this one pictured...
The bike features Suntour Sprint track hubs, stainless steel spokes, Araya Red tubular rims, indexed seat post, track chain, no brakes, Miyata pantographed stem, MKS track pedals and clips. Anyway, all OEM components, except the mentioned tire set.
What value would you guys and gals place on the bicycle. Oh, forgot to mention - it is exactly my size although I have no interest in riding Fixed Gear again EVER! With that in mind, the rear hub is of Flip-Flop design, so a single cog freewheel will be added, should I choose to keep the bike.
Apology for the ramble, but this is the first ever track bike I have found in the Thunder Bay area and it is close to time bubble condition.

Beautifull. Hard to value, but I'd throw $750 at it if it was triple-butted and was in near-new condition.

LOL I'll trade you an opinion on your Miyata Pista for my Merckx Pista listed below!
I also don't have any real experience in these things but it seems to me that in general, quality (vintage) track parts and frames command 50% , sometimes more, over comparable road equipment.

Unfortunately, it's the eco Pista with Mangalight forks and stays and mostly entry level track components. Still, these were a great track bicycle for the novice. I used to compete on one and they were also used as the rental bicycles at the Montreal velodrome. Without pictures of the actual bicycle, I'd put the value at around $400 CDN. With new tyres and saddle, it would probably be around $500 CDN.

T-Mar hit the nail on the head. I just let the Miyata go for $400.00 CND even before reading his appraisal. Sad to let it go, but I have no where to keep the darn thing.

Cool. I have the same bike in the basement. The club I belonged to used to do a trip to Montreal once a year to ride the track. And we used to get together to ride Windam center near Delhi. Never tried the wooden short track at Fonthill - that was a scary track - 130 meter, 55 degree banking.
Nice write up.
