Mercian with dented top tube
 

I've had my eye on this Mercian, but the extent of the "small ding on top tube from tipping over in garage" was just revealed today with a new photo. Looks like one person already retracted their bid based on this.

To me, that's not a small ding. The mixed-bag of components aren't bad, but I don't know... what would you be willing to pay for this? Or, given the top tube issue, would you even bother?

Well that dent is not from tipping over in the garage. Given the replacement fork, I think its from some kind of accident. Parts are a hodgepodge, so selling off the parts would be a piece by piece experience. As a money maker, I'd pass. As a rider, I'd pass unless I was close enough to ride it and closely inspect. However, might make a wonderful parts bin for a couple hundred.

Yeah, a couple of hundred for the parts is about what I was thinking. And I agree, that's NOT just from tipping over in the garage!

I would pass this bike has the look of a bike that was crashed and basically scraped, that someone got and rebuilt with whatever decent parts they had. I would consider it for a parts bike if it was a local cash sale, but not something I would buy over wbay without being able to check it out in person.
