Peugeot 531 Optimum 14 mystery? Worth $100

Hi never heard of this model? What year is this? When did Peugeot change the fork design by not having flat top that is sometimes chrome? Unsure if to buy. But bland looking. Any information would be appreciated. Has Shimano RX100 brakes and gears.

Is that a Reynolds 501 on the top tube, just below the head tube? Looks like it needs a good going through.

Provide there are no major issues, it's easily worth $100, even if it's not ready to ride. 14 speed RX100 would place it early 1990s and this is consistent with the livery. Most manufacturers went to unicrown forks on their road models in the very late 1980s to every early 1990s, as they were less costly, lighter and stronger than a traditional fork crown. The fact that it is lugged construction indicates a better quality frame and the tubing decal appears to be Reynolds 531. At $100, this would already be gone in my area.

That is a nice mid level model from the early 90's while not high end the RX100 stuff were solid components and it looks to have nice alloy wheels and at least 531 main tubes, cleaned up it will make a very nice rider. Not a lot of info on these here in the US since Peugeot basically left the US in the 80's and this looks to be a UK model based on the markings. The price is good if not great if everything works good this bike should be worth $250-300 cleaned up and ready to ride and well more than $100 us as presented.

So around 1990 Peugeot sold off everything to BH who in turn formed Cycleurope. The bike is question is Cycleurope model from the very early 90s.

Cycleurope made Peugeots with Reynolds 531 through 1996-ish.
