What is the value of this vintage 57 cm Araya with Dura Ace?

I'm familiar with several classic and vintage road bike brands but not familiar with Araya. Found a nice one on CL for $600. Sounds too high but the bike is in good shape. What do you think? sorry, pictures will be forthcoming when i figure out how to save them from CL to my computer.

Valuation of Araya Dura ace road bike on CL

Clean looking road bike on CL. araya Dura Ace equipped. Looks like older vintage. $600 asking price! What's it worth?

You have to include links if you want useful feedback. No one's going to snipe a $600 Araya.

That might not be true if it's what I suspect...

If it's one of the aero AX arayas the price is very fair if condition is ok.

I'm pretty sure it's this bike.
57cm Araya Road Bike Dura Ace 12 Speed Tange 1
With the red Dura Ace stuff and flat mismatched bad tuby tires on iffy looking wheels, flipper bartape I would say $300-350 give or take. For $500-600 on a lesser branded Japanese bike it would need to be prestine ready to ride with something special to it this one is actually pretty boring.

Looks almost exactly like an early 80's Centurion. Looks like there's a Champion 1 or 2 sticker on the seat tube. Very sweet looking ride. It looks like it's worth well over $300. Maybe $500. If it was Italian ........ oh my, it would be about $800.

The components are 2nd generation Dura-Ace EX, which places it 1978-1984. The components themselves are in good condition but the pads are worn out, cables are rusty and the hoods have started to rot. Then then is the admitted tyre replacement. Your looking at an overhaul and well over $100 in consumables, depending on the grade of tubulars you buy, if you even want tubulars.

Those are nasty paint chips on the top and down tubes. It's hard to tell from the picture but the tube may have a crease where the chip is located. I wouldn't go over $300.

This. The ad's photo of the big chip in the top tube is conveniently out of focus. Would need to see in person, but it does look like a crease.

Not a bike I'd jump at.

Definitely a dent on that TT......
The bike should still be a safe rider, but nobody will pay the 600 buck price the seller's asking.....
Maybe 300 bucks at most because of the DA group if the DA group is in very good condition, but if bought for a bit less by a person who plans on fixing the TT with frame blocks and a bit of refinishing on the TT, it could be a decent bargain.....
I always wonder how frames get dents like these. I suspect some of them can be just from things getting dropped on the bike in a garage, but there's always the possibility of it coming from a crash, so the buyer should give the bike a good going over to see if there's anything else on the bike damaged along with the TT dent.
It's a beautiful bike, I hope someone does buy and fix that TT and bring it back to it's best.
