80s Corsaro Proforma
4 Attachment(s)
I've probably answered my own question already, but wondering if others think this 80s Corsaro Proforma is worth $150.
No drivetrain or component close-ups, but those shifter levers are pretty clearly Suntour Superbe, as I have these on my 1983 Trek 760. And Tange Champion 1 tubes are typically used on better quality bikes, yes? And the Mavic Open 4 CD wheelset is decent, as I recall. |
I concur that the shift levers appear to be SunTour Superbe. It's appears to have a Stronglight headset and resin pedals, so it's obviously a frankenbike to some degree. However, a Tange #1 frame and MAVIC CD4 rims warrant a visit, at that price.

You have my blessing to buy it.

But I do like the frame color, too. I've asked the seller to post/send pics of the components, which he can't do until this evening, but I'm pretty sure I need to snag this, regardless. |
If it's local, I wouldn't wait for him to post additional pictures. It's at least a good deal and potentially a fantastic deal. If you acquire it, I'd appreciate the serial number. It may allow us to determine the exact year and manufacturer.

Absolutely. Do you know where to find info on Corsaro bikes?
|
Cosaro was a California based importing company. Their private label bicycle brand dates back to circa 1983. The bicycles were obviously contract manufactured. That's about all I know.

This machine is Corsaro rather than Cosaro. Also recall a launch date of 1983 but thought the importer/distributor which created it was based in Oregon. Remember products as being produced by Giant. Probably my bad.

Well, the guy sold it before I got a chance to check it out (45 mile drive for me). Note to self: act fast and don't ask too much from the seller when you come across something that is CLEARLY a good deal!
