Holy Grail of Miyata?
Would this be a top of the line Miyata Road Bike? Seller is asking for $850. Listed on CL Los Angeles.

He's been trying to sell that bike for years.
It's nice and in great shape but I think it's overpriced by a couple of hundred dollars.

Nice bike, definitely overpriced. Pics are poor. The campy RD on the bike looks weird.

To me, it looks like a Miyata Pro...which was the second in line for Miyata behind the Team. And...like others...probably a bit overpriced...

What are the stripes doing on there? I didn't know Miyata had won a World Championship by that time. As for being a Miyata grail, I thought the most coveted one had a number above 1000. 1200 or 1400, maybe? There may be one other model out there that is super rare, some kind of special edition.

Miyata did have the 1400 series later in the 80s. And the 1100. The 1200 was introduced in '83 or so.
But the Team and Pro were above those.
In the late 80s Miyata had the CarbonTech series which were featured before the Team Miyata in catalogs, but they were also different types as every bike brand was pushing the carbon and aluminum models back then. Team Miyata in the late 80s was still killer.

I think this bike is the rough equivalent of the Univega Superstrada we've been debating in the other thread, or at least was in it's original kit. Obviously some components have been swapped, which might make it either more or less valuable to some.
For comparison, there's another Miyata Professional on LA CL, with the original frame pump and funky water bottle/cage, in excellent shape, for $450 OBO. Perhaps the price is lower because it's a much bigger frame, but that one looks like an excellent deal for a very tall rider.
Edit to add picture for the heck of it:

The Team Miyata(and Aero Miyata...pretty much the same) and the Pro Miyata are top o the line.
