Glad you scored that Miyata. Looking forward to seeing more photos and I hope there's still some decent riding weather left in 2016 so you can give it a spin. It got cold here in Minnesota fast.

I believe yours is a 1988 model. You can check out the catalog for full specs at miyatacatalogs.com:
Miyata Bicycle Catalogs: Miyata Catalog 1988

As for fit... If you can straddle it, you can probably get the fit dialed in. The bike looks like it has a long-reach stem. If you ride it for a while and come to the conclusion you feel too stretched out, you can swap the stem for a shorter one.
I agree this is a good buy with the extras, and I agree about the long-reach stem. It also looks like the handlebars are fairly long reach with deep drop, as vintage drop bars go (and certainly compared to modern drop bars). Replacing handlebars is usually pretty cheap (if you stick with vintage bars), and can really transform how a bike fits. There are a lot of options there. As noted, fiddle with stem and seat height, ride it a bit, and decide if you need to swap stem/bars.

If you do wind up looking for a different stem and/or handlebar, be sure to check out the ISO and For Trade thread stickied in the Classic & Vintage forum. I'd bet there are plenty of guys around here who have an extra bar or stem they'd be willing to part with.

Origin8 also sells their 'Classic' quill stem cheap. They start at $12.99 on Amazon.

Thanks, @skydog! I checked the serial number and it starts with what looks like a Q. Based on that serial number and that it is the colors offered that year, I think you are spot on. Since this is my second bike, I'm still figuring out fit and I'll try to ride it as is through the winter. In the spring when I'll ride a lot more, I'll start tweaking.

@KevindaleThe bike has some minor scratches, but I don't see any rust and the chrome just needs a bit of polish. I'm pretty excited that the rack fits my Topeak bag already on my other bike. The pump is a Zefal, and the Pasellas look brand new. Considering I didn't even pay the seller's full asking price, I think I got a great deal.

When summer comes around, when funds are a little more plentiful and weather is better, I'll get a BH or Lapierre for speed. But, winter in Detroit can be harsh, and I just want to get some base mileage in at lunch. I'm not planning to break any personal records in a balaclava nor slide on ice on a carbon frame. This Miyata seems to fill that need perfectly and on weekends my pristine new Fuji will be at the house.
